Professor Gregory Snell is the Medical Head of the Lung Transplant Service at the Alfred Hospital and Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.

Dr. Snell has contributed to the field of lung transplantation for the past 30 years through his patient-centered, prolific, groundbreaking research. He has led many pioneering studies in respiratory medicine and has authored hundreds of publications. He has a particular interest in maximising lung donation to facilitate transplantation and has worked extensively in the area of ‘extended’ lungs and donation-after-circulatory death lung donation.

Dr. Snell undertook his Lung Transplant training at the University of Toronto in 1991 on a Will Roger’s Scholarship. He was awarded the Order of Australia Medical in 2011 for service to Respiratory Medicine and Lung Transplantation. He was presented with the Francis D. Pagani, MD Endowed Mentorship Award by the International Society of Heart Lung Transplant (ISHLT) Foundation in 2024.

Dr. Michael Perch obtained his MD degree from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and pursued specialized training in Internal and Pulmonary Medicine. He has made significant contributions to the Danish lung transplant program and currently serves as Program Director at Rigshospitalet, University Hospital of Copenhagen. Additionally, he serves as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University.

Dr. Perch is actively involved in the Scientific Advisory Committee of Center of Excellence for Personalized Medicine of Infectious Complications in Immune Deficiency (PERSIMUNE) and the Board of Management of Post-Transplant Infections in Collaborating Hospitals (MATCH) with a tenure of 12 years on the Board of the National Danish Transplant Society, including four years as Chairman. He has also represented the country in the European Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (EABIP) and currently serves on the Scandiatransplant Board. Moreover, Dr. Perch holds pivotal roles such as Associate Medical Director of the International Thoracic Transplant Registry (ISHLT), Chair of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) group of Transplantation 8.02, and Treasurer of the European Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation (ESHLT).

Dr. Perch’s research and expertise spans various aspects of lung transplantation, including Ex vivo Lung perfusion, primary graft dysfunction, Chronic Lung Allograft Dysfunction, post-transplant infections, and immunosuppression.

Rade Tomic, MD, specializes in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, with a focus on lung transplantation. This includes evaluations of patients for lung transplants, perioperative complications of lung transplants, and postoperative complications of lung transplants including rejections, infection complications, and side effects due to immunosuppressive medications. Currently he is serving as Medical Director for Lung Transplantation Program at University of Chicago.

Dr. Tomic conducts research in various areas related to lung transplantation. His research focuses on lung transplant patient outcomes studies, lung transplant for highly sensitized patients, and lung transplantation for cancer patients. Dr. Tomic has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading journals such as Science, Nature, New England Journal of Medicine, and JAMA.

Dr. Tomic earned his medical degree from the University of Zagreb and completed his residency training at the University of Illinois. Additionally, he completed his fellowship training at Emory University in Atlanta.

P.K. Tandon, Ph.D. is the Senior Vice President of Data Sciences and Development Strategy, Ultragenyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. based in Woburn, MA. . He joined Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical in January 2017 and served as the Head of Ultragenyx gene Therapy Unit until 2021.  As a senior member of the R&D executive team, he works with other senior members to formulate and execute translational, early, and late clinical development strategies.  

Prior to Ultragenyx, he was Clinical Science Officer and SVP at Sanofi-Genzyme and Genzyme Corporation. During his 20 years career at Genzyme, he was actively involved in developing rare diseases, neurology, and oncology products. During his over 30 years career, he has contributed to the approval of 18 drugs with 8 in the rare disease space.  

His area of expertise includes clinical and regulatory development strategies, interim monitoring of the data, and adaptive designs. He is an expert in clinical trial methodology, endpoint selection, and critical appraisal of clinical outcomes data. He led the development of MDRI (Multi-Domain Responder Index) methodology, a methodology applicable to rare diseases.  

Dr. Tandon has authored and co-authored over 25 peer reviewed scientific papers in the fields of medical statistics, epidemiology, and clinical trial methodology. He has given over 40 contributions and invited presentations at various global scientific meetings. He received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University and holds an Executive Program Diploma from the Sloan School of Management, MIT. Dr. Tandon serves as an ad hoc Associate Professor, at the School of Public Health, Boston University. Dr. Tandon has served as a senior statistical and development advisor to several Biotechnology Companies. 

Robert O. (Bill) Williams III is the Johnson & Johnson Centennial Chair and Professor of Pharmaceutics and the Division Head of Molecular Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery at the College of Pharmacy, University of Texas at Austin. He earned a B.S. in Biology from Texas A&M University, a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin, and Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutics in 1986 from the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr Williams was elected Fellow of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists in 2006, Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering in 2008 and Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors in 2019. He was named the Inventor of the Year by the University of Texas at Austin in 2017. He received the College of Science Academy of Distinguished Former Students Award from Texas A&M University in 2021. Dr. Williams is a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), as well as other professional societies including the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

He is the co-founder of several pharmaceutical companies based on IP developed at UT Austin. Dr. Williams’ research interests include development of novel drug delivery systems for oral, pulmonary, nasal, injectable, buccal, and topical applications, development of novel particle engineering technologies for low molecular weight drugs, peptides and proteins, and analytical technologies to characterize actives, excipients, and polymers.

He has published over 500 peer-reviewed research articles, reviews, abstracts and book chapters, and co-edited several books in the fields of pharmaceutical technology and drug delivery, including Formulating Poorly Water Soluble Drugs, Third Edition (aapspress and Springer) and Essential Pharmaceutics, Second Edition (aapspress and Springer). He is an inventor on over 80 patents and patent applications. Dr. Williams served as Editor-in-Chief of the research journal Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy from 2000 to 2014 and is the Editor-in-Chief of AAPS PharmSciTech (an official publication of AAPS) since 2014. He is on the Editorial Advisory Board of Journal of Drug Delivery Science and Technology, International Journal of Pharmaceutics, International Journal of Pharmaceutics: X, and Pharmaceutics.

Dr. Hickey is Distinguished Fellow Emeritus at RTI International, Research Triangle Park, NC, Professor Emeritus of Pharmacoengineering and Molecular Pharmaceutics of the Eshelman School of Pharmacy, and Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering of the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Great Britain, the Royal Society of Biology, the Royal Society of Medicine and the National Academy of Inventors.

He received the Research Achievement Award of the Particulate Presentations and Design Division of the Powder Technology Society of Japan, the David W Grant Award in Physical Pharmacy of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists; Thomas T Mercer Joint Prize for Excellence in Inhaled Medicines and Pharmaceutical Aerosols of the American Association for Aerosol Research and the International Society for Aerosols in Medicine, the Ralph Shangraw Memorial Award for Excipient and Excipient Technology of the International Pharmaceutical Excipient Consortium Foundation.

He is founder (and formerly President and CEO) of Cirrus Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; founder (formerly CSO) of Oriel Therapeutics, Inc,; CEO of Astartein, LLC. and; Member of the Board of First Flight Venture Center, Inspiring Pty Ltd., and; KAER Biotherapeutics; Chair of the USP Joint Sub-Committee on Nanotechnology, Member of the USP Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms Expert Committee (DFEC) and Inhalation Sub-Committee of the DFEC of the United States Pharmacopeia.

He consults on multidisciplinary research programs in the field of pulmonary drug and vaccine delivery for the treatment and prevention of a variety of diseases and serves on numerous editorial and scientific advisory boards.
